For those of you who don’t know or aren’t familiar with monthly beauty subscriptions…let me school you! Ok, not really. LOL  There are a million and one different monthly beauty, fitness, pet, and food subscriptions you can be a part of, all ranging in price from $10-$60 a month.  Each subscription box comes with different items depending on what you are subscribing to.  Personally, I have tried a few beauty subscription boxes and so far Boxycharm has been my favorite.

Boxycharm is the only monthly beauty subscription that gives you 4 to 5 full size products plus free shipping (US only) for $21/month.  Each box is valued at over $100 retail!!  All you do is take a quick survey on what your preferences are when it comes to makeup, skincare, haircare and more.  Each box gets delivered right to your door every month and there is no obligation as you can cancel at any time!

Every month is a new theme; this month was Spellbound. Let’s get into what was in my October box! (Retail value: $135)

From top to bottom:

Becca x Jacyln Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector® Press Highlighter in Proseco Pop

Dr. Brandt – Poredermbrassion

Dirty Little Secret Eyeshadow Chubby in Illusion

Tarte Lip Paint in Bestie

Jonetblu Lip pencil in Spice

Quick description of each item (comes in every box):

Here are a few swatches of the products and also a makeup look using all products listed.

Is the box worth it? 1,000%. If you are a makeup junkie on a budget like me or just a person who loves all things beauty, I recommend this box over any other.   Not only do you get full size products and free shipping but their customer service is on point.  I emailed them once regarding a shipping question and they returned my email within 24hrs and answered every question I had.  There is something to be said about great customer service.

July Favorites

Welcome summer!!! Ok no, not really; summers in Texas are BRUTAL!!!  I think July was one of the hottest months and August is falling really closely behind.  Since it has been so hot outside, I’ve been trying to keep my makeup pretty simple, however, there are those days when I get a little heavy handed.  My natural minimum makeup look goes right into a full on smoky eye and bright lip situation.  You can’t blame me…it is so simple for me to do.

With that being said, I wanted to share a few of my favorite makeup products, books and songs that I was loving in the month of July.  Some of these makeup products and songs are oldies but goodies for sure!!

Favorite Makeup:

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer

Pretty Baby and The Good Girl by Mary Kubica are both psychological thrilling page turners and  you won’t see any of it coming until the end.  These books are definitely must reads!!

Sunshine & Whiskey by R.L. Griffin is a total feel good, laugh out loud type of read.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chrome Eyeshadow™ Review

I wanted to share a quick review with you on Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Eye Chrome Eyeshadows™ that recently launched.  I have seen them on almost every beauty vlogger/blogger’s Instagram and Snapchat and from what was shown, they looked beautiful, so of course I had to try them myself.  I have used Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow™ before and liked it, however because it comes in a pot, it was harder to get the product out and I noticed it dried up quickly.

The packaging on the new Eye Chrome Eyeshadows, in my opinion, are so much better and easier to use. This metallic liquid eyeshadow comes with a doe-foot applicator which makes applying them a breeze.  I picked up a few at Ulta for $9.99 each.  The price is a bit high but you get a decent amount of product in each tube.  They come in ten different colors and I picked up the following five.

(Top to Bottom: Fools Gold, Beige Luster, Sharp Purple, Gilded Rise, and Electric Emerald)

  • Pigmentation is absolutely AMAZING!!
  • Colors are rich and vibrant.
  • Easy application
  • Great, messy-free packaging
  • Good color selection
  • Long lasting – Just FYI, you’ll need a good makeup remover to get these off

  • Cost
  • Too much is literally too much! One layer is ENOUGH when directly applying it to the lid; any more than that and they will start to clump up and flake off when you try to blend them in with other eyeshadows
    • Tip:  To avoid adding too much product to the lid, apply the shadow on to your finger and then apply to lid for an even coverage.
  • They dry within 10-15 seconds after applying so you must work fast (this could be a pro and a con; for me it’s con)

Here are swatches of the colors: Left: with flash and Right: without flash in natural day light.

Fools Gold, Beige Luster, Sharp Purple, Gilded Rise, and Electric Emerald

(Fools Gold, Beige Luster, Sharp Purple, Gilded Rise, and Electric Emerald)

Color used on lid is Beige Luster

Overall, the eyeshadows are long lasting and have amazing pigmentation. If you are looking for an easy, one swipe type eyeshadow, these are right up your alley!  They are a great way to add color to an everyday look without your eyeshadow becoming overwhelming.
