What products did you receive in your November Glam Bag??
About a week ago, I went into Sephora (surprise, surprise) with my sisters just to browse and see what I could get my hands on…for research of course. 😉 I have heard many great things about everything GLAMGLOW and yes their products are expensive, however I decided to picked up the 1oz size of the GLAMGLOW SUPERCLEANSE Daily Clearing Cleanser ($14). Unfortunately, my face has not been very nice to me lately and daily stress and life just adds to my breakouts. So I figured what better time to try a cleanser that is advertised to help with problematic skin.
Let me just tell you, this cleanser is so AMAZING!! This is probably one of the best facial cleansers I’ve ever tried. I’m always skeptical about the people who say they tried something one time and they could see a difference…well now I’m going to be one of those people. After the first wash, I absolutely noticed a difference in my skin. I tend to get build up around my nose (yes, it’s gross, I know) and even using my Clarisonic and different face masks it would still not clear up completely. After one wash, it was gone…ALL OF IT!! No more build up and my pores looked smaller. I have been using it for a little over a week now, morning and night, and my breakouts are gone. I honestly get excited to wash my face because I know it’s getting better and better with each wash.
It is a mud to foam cleanser so when you pump the product out onto your fingertips it will be thick and gray…like mud. Apply to dry skin, then simply work it all over your face (DO NOT use on eyes) and slowly start to add water to your face until it turns into a foam. This will then dissolves any oils and makeup on your skin. The cleanser has a minty/peppermint smell to it, so don’t be alarmed when you will feel a little bit of tingling. Personally, I wash my face with my regular Purity cleanser to get all my face and eye makeup off, then I will pat my face dry and use the GLAMGLOW cleanser.
I will most certainly be purchasing the 5oz bottle ($39) as soon as possible and have a feeling this will be a new Holy Grail product for me. GLAMGLOW is absolutely worth the money HANDS DOWN!! Next in line to try will be one of their face mask and I will let you guys know if that’s worth the hype as well. Let me know if you try it out and how you like it.

Spring has finally sprung! As the sun shines and the days warm up, all it makes me think about is wearing a bright lip! I’m a huge lipstick junkie and recently tried out L.A. Girl Cosmetics Glazed Lip Paint and have been loving them. They appear on the lips like lipstick but with an intense pigmentation and high gloss. Because they are infused with Vitamin E and peppermint oil, they are smooth and silky on your lips which also helps to keep them moisturized. Although they are really glossy they are not at all sticky like most lip glosses. At $3.49 each, they are extremely affordable and will not disappoint. The colors on camera don’t appear as bright as they are in person but very similar. I picked up five colors off www.drugstore.com, which has everything your local drugstore has and more. The only place I was able to find these was online as they do not sell them at any of my local drugstores. Not only are the prices affordable but there is always a sale and you get cash back for every purchase you make. Free shipping with any $35 purchase and they ship within two days!! Here are the colors I picked up.

Hope you try them out for yourselves, I promise you will love them!!
BH Cosmetics Review
I’ve heard everything there is to hear about BH Cosmetics. Some people rave about it while others say it’s just okay. Well a couple weeks ago, I decided to find out for myself and purchase a few things. Ok fine, let me tell you what really happened!! Something inside this brain of mine told me to give up purchasing makeup for lent…PEOPLE THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!! So the Tuesday before lent started, I said, let me just get a few things before I’m not able to buy anything for 60 days!! Somewhat as a “last supper” per say LOL and yes I am that impulsive when things are being taken away from me!
I decided to purchase BH’s 18 Piece Studio Pro Brush set, the 28 Color Smokey Eyeshadow Palette, and the 10 Color Professional Blush Palette. The fact that I could get all three items for under $45 was a steal in my eyes, plus they threw in the BH Hollywood Makeup Palette as a freebie!
My products shipped extremely fast and I had them within 7 business days. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t do much online shopping because I don’t have the patience to wait for it nor do I like shipping costs. Needless to say, I was really impressed with the delivery time.
18 Piece Studio Pro Brush Kit: I had been eyeing this brush set for a while and decided that day to purchase it. When I got them in, the first thing I did was wash them. They washed great with no issues. The following day I used them and the verdict is…I have a love/hate relationship with them. The face brushes had a lot of fallout and I ended up having tiny pieces of brush hair all over my face but they pick up product great and the shapes are just right. The eye shadow brushes are a bit rougher than I thought they would be. They do what they are designed to do but I wish they were softer. It almost felt as if they were scratching my eyelids as I tried to blend out my eye shadows. I think they are a good starter kit for those of you looking for brushes at a great price. This is the only brush set that I have purchased from BH Cosmetics so I can’t say all of them are as rough as these but I would recommend starting out with a smaller size set for those of you looking to purchase brushes.
10 Color Professional Blush Palette: This actually took me by surprise as I didn’t expect to get such great color pay off from this palette. These blushes are very pigmented, creamy, and easy to blend. The two warm brown colors I use more for contouring and bronzing up my face. There are two colors that are a bit bright for my taste but I’ve mixed them with some of the other every day pinks and corals in this set and they’ve worked out great. Overall this blush palette is a great buy for $6.95!
28 Color Eyeshadow Palette: I tend to stick with more warm tones than cool tones when it comes to my eye shadows but I figured what the heck let’s try something different. Just as the Blush Palette these eye shadows are very pigmented, creamy, and easy to blend. You have to be careful with lower priced makeup as the shadows tend to be very chalky, have no color payoff, and a lot of fallout. These shadows did not disappoint! The palette comes with a good variety of darker colors to create any smokey eye. They do have a bit more shimmer than I’d prefer when it comes to creating that kind of look but overall these shadows are great and I’ve used them more than I thought I would…plus a girl can never have too many eye shadows!
Overall, I am really pleased with the purchases I made from BH Cosmetics and will definitely be buying more products. I am willing to purchase another brush set in hopes that those are better. I do recommend this brand to everyone, especially those of us who are on a budget. You really do get great products for the price! Let me know if you’ve purchased anything from BH Cosmetics and if you liked or disliked their products!
LET’S TALK SKIN CARE
How many of you have heard these phrases “make sure to moisturize, use eye cream, stay out of the sun/use sunscreen”?? Well whoever is saying these things to you, listen to them! Start taking care of your skin NOW. In my younger years ☺ I never cared to take care of my skin; now that I’m 31 (moment of silence please) I wish I would have started earlier. But by no means do I have major damage or a plethora of wrinkles, but what I do struggle with, is dark under eye circles, uneven skin tone, a few sun spots, and acne flare ups.
Over the last couple years my skincare routine has change drastically…and by drastically I mean from a bar of soap as facial cleanser to an actual facial cleanser and from no moisturizer to packing on as much as I can get. In October 2012 I went through a crazy and extreme breakout phase that lasted about six months before I could get it completely under control. After visiting with my doctor, it was determined that my untreated thyroid issue was wreaking havoc on my face. Needless to say, with medication and a new skincare routine, my face cleared up completely. **Hallelujah**
With all that being said, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite, Holy Grail, I can’t even think to live without products. If there is one thing I will now invest my money in, its skincare products. Some things you just can’t skimp on and that’s a lot coming from someone who doesn’t pay full price for anything!
**Disclaimer: I am no dermatologist or skin care expert and not all products will work for everyone, this is just what works for me.
MY DAILY ROUTINE
Philosophy Purity Made Simple: This is a 3-in-1 cleanser for face and eyes. It is very gentle on the skin and will remove every single ounce of makeup on your face. I wear tons of mascara and gel eyeliner and this cleanser manages to get it all off in one wash. I will purchase this cleanser for the rest of my life, I love it that much! **Side note: this is also gentle enough to use in your hair for any product buildup. I use this cleanser every morning and night. Once or twice a week I will use my Clarisonic Plus to get a deeper clean. The Clarisonic is made to give your skin a deeper, yet gentler cleanse which leaves the skin looking more radiant. It also unclogs your pores which allow your serum and moisturizers to penetrate deeper into your skin. These two products are a must have for me and are worth every penny.
L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum visibly tightens pores, diminishes lines and wrinkles, and reveals petal soft skin. I have been using this serum for a little over a year and it leaves my skin feeling soft, moisturized, and toned. If I’m without this product for more than a week I really start to notice a difference in the texture of my skin. Recently, I have been mixing it up a bit by using Algenist Anti-Aging Repairing Oil alongside and this has taken my skin to the next level. On days when I feel like my skin is drier than normal, I will use the repairing oil after cleansing my skin. This oil delivers anti-aging serum but in oil form. It is fast absorbing and non-greasy and instantly helps nourish and hydrate your skin. For those of you with oily skin do not fear! By putting any type of facial oils onto your face, this “tricks” the skin into thinking its producing too much oil, therefore helping minimize the production of oil. I have combination skin and when I use the repairing oil, I do notice that my face tends to be less oily. Although Algenist is a bit higher in price, I would say it is totally worth it.
These two products are fairly new to my skincare routine. As I previously mentioned above, I suffer from dark under eye circles and very fine lines underneath my eyes. I would like to say they are hereditary, but no one in my family has them the way I do (lucky me). I have used several eye creams and none seem to do much of anything. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm and StriVectin SD Advance Intense Concentrate are the best products out there because I’d be lying. I’m happy with them as of now, but still on the fence as well. It may just be too soon for me to make a judgement call. I’ll update you guys later after I’ve used them for a longer period of time.
Moisturizing has to be one of the most important aspects to great skin. L’Oréal Youth Code Texture Perfector Day/Night Cream is great for those of you who need to even out your skin tone and texture. Using this along with their serum helps to diminish the look of pores and uneven skin tone. The one thing that I will NEVER be without is: Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power Cx30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping mask. OMG, OMG, OMG…let me just tell you, this mask is AMAZEBALLS!! I received this sample from Ulta a couple months ago and use this about once a week. The great thing is that it works while you sleep so you don’t have to wait around for the mask to dry like most facial masks. It gives you 30x the amount of Vitamin C per ounce than an orange. It is non-greasy with a creamy consistency and it smells like oranges. I simply apply the mask in place of my moisturizer for the night and let it do its magic while I get my beauty sleep. This product has brightened and evened out my skin within the last month. All Hail Peter Thomas Roth!!!
Last but definitely not least is this little gem! For those of us who get that pesky hormonal acne flare up each month…meet your new best friend Mario Badescu Drying Lotion! This fast acting and effective acne spot treatment will change your life forever. Apply this after you cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin, then go to bed; in the morning you will wake up with clear skin. Most acne spot treatments leave your skin dry and irritated, but this is powerful, yet gentle enough to not worry about those ugly dry patches. The product in the bottle is odd looking due to the fact that there is the pink segment at the bottom and clear liquid on top. As the directions state: DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE. If the product has been shaken let it sit and settle before using. Simple dip a Q-tip into the pink content and apply onto acne flare ups. Not only does this product clear up your acne; it also relieves the itch from those damn mosquito bites! **Praise Jesus**
I hope you all found this helpful and are able try some of these products. Let me know what your favorite skincare products are or if you know of anything that you think may be useful for my problem areas. Remember to drink at least eight glasses of water a day for even better looking skin. ☺
